Have you ever “been sure” someone has done you wrong, only to find out you’re wrong? Or, maybe you have been the recipient of being blamed for something you didn’t do? Neither will do much to help your relationships or your digestion.
So here is my quandary. I have FMS, who do I blame? As much as I hate to admit it for a long time I thought God was “using FMS” to teach me things I needed to know and to make me stronger. That put me in the first category of blaming someone only to find out I’m wrong. It also made it really hard to pray for God to take something away that at that time I believed He was using for my benefit. Not to mention it gave me an “easy out” when my prayers were not answered.
What shed light on my faulty belief was John 10:10 (Amplified) – “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)”. Hmmmm …. FMS doesn’t exactly fit into that abundant life category that Jesus came to bring, now does it?
Our enemy wants to us to believe that God is the source of our problems. But then, most bullies always are pointing the finger at someone else and saying “not me”.
It’s really hard to pray “Thy will be done” if in the back of your mind you’re thinking “what if” God’s will is something really awful?
So what’s your heart saying now … not your head … your heart? Can you, with complete peace, pray “Thy will be done”? If not, would you like to be able to do so?
Here’s the good news. YOU CAN DO IT! YOU CAN MAKE THE CHOICE TO TRUST GOD’s WILL FOR YOU. Here’s why:
- For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
- The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 1 John 3:8 NIV
- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Heb 13:8 NIV
So the next time you are faced with trying to figure out whether what you are encountering is from God or the enemy remember the litmus test: steal, kill and destroy = the enemy; life abundant and overflowing = our Heavenly Father.
